Eating right

While Dave is away all week long and it's just me at home, it's really hard to get motivated to cook dinner and eat healthy(plus all the leftoevers). With baby on the way, I know I need to eat healthy and frequently (I have a bad habit of forgetting to eat because I'm too busy). To help me do this, I've created this blog. I can write my goals and keep track of them and I can determine what works for me and what doesn't.

Here's what I've got so far:

-When I wake up I'm HUNGRY, but I have no energy to make anything for breakfast. I feel like cereal is fast but it's not very filling, along with a lot of other quick breakfast options.Last week I decided I really wanted eggs, I had some leftover zucchini and I made a wonderful omelet with the zucchini and some swiss cheese. It was sooo yummy and it filled me up. So this morning I grated up a zucchini and more swiss cheese and I plan to just grab a little of both and with very little effert I will have a filling and very healthy breakfast.

-One of my goals is to drink more water. I don't like water very much, and while the water here isn't bad it isn't very good either. So I want to start adding fresh fruit to my water. Lemons and limes are the norm, but what other fruit would work? Oranges I'm sure would work because they are so similar to lemons, as well as other citrus. But what about berries? or pineapple? I can't use kiwi because I'm alergic, but I think that would be great.

-Yesturday I bought some frozen fish because that's quick to cook and very good for me and baby.

Here's what I had today

B: Omelet :)
L: Kinda just snacked(oops), had preztels and cheese and hummus. Super yum, but not a lunch
S: Peach (yea fresh fruit)
D: Southwest pasta salad (made ealier in the day because it's supposed to be chilled) It's stuffed with all kinds of veggies, including avocado, which I love and is also very good for baby and me
S: Popcorn

Overall I think it was a good day.

  1. Oooh Lisa! I know EXACTLY what you're going through! This whole "motivation to eat while pregnant" deal is a whole lot harder than I ever would have thought!!

  2. Lisa, while fish is very good for you, you need to be careful what you eat and how much. In many fish there is a mercury content that is not good for the baby so many doctors tell women to stay away from any type of seafood, fresh or salt water. Contratulations on the baby, it's a different experience being pregnant!

  3. a lot of times in the morning i'll have a slimfast shake because i'm unmotivated to do anything else. i buy the powder mix and stir it into my soymilk. as far as the water, we have to drink ours out of a filtered pitcher. i know they have those with "flavor shots" though. best of luck with your goals!
